The official data behind Forecourt UK
Since 2026, every fuel station in the UK has been legally required to report its prices to a central government database whenever they change. This is called the Fuel Finder scheme, and it's the data source behind Forecourt UK.
Before Fuel Finder, fuel price comparison tools relied on inconsistent, often outdated data — some scraped from station websites, some crowdsourced from users, much of it stale by the time anyone saw it. The scheme was introduced to give drivers reliable, standardised access to genuinely current pricing.
Every station covered by the scheme must submit its current prices for standard fuel types whenever they change, along with basic details like location and opening hours — the same underlying data Forecourt UK reads directly.
Because the data comes from stations themselves, not estimates or guesses, it reflects genuine, current pricing — the scheme exists specifically to close the accuracy gap that older comparison tools struggled with.
